Activities for Adults

Guided walking tours of the Knesset, Wohl Rose Garden and Supreme Court district, the Nachlaot neighborhood and more, are conducted every Saturday (subject to a minimum number of participants).

Kiddies Club
The Freckles Kiddies Club and team of counselors offer a variety of children’s activities: movies, exciting games, unique art workshops, adventure contests and more.
The club is open on weekends and holidays and supervised by a counselor.

Friday: 15:00 p.m. to 18:00 p.m. and Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m.
Between 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. the club is closed for lunch break.

Jerusalem Biblical Zoo
About the site:
The zoo is built on 25 hectares in the spectacular landscape between the hills. There is a lake at the center of the zoo with an island of monkeys and a variety of animals in spacious unfenced enclosures. The zoological collection includes animals from the Land of Israel that are mentioned in the Bible and rare, endangered species. The zoo also features a variety of animals from the desert to the rainforests, which may be seen in the small animal building, the huge aviaries, the Bibleland Wildlife Preserve, the African and South American enclosures, the amazing penguin exhibit, the Lemur Land exhibit and the fascinating bird watching trail. New attractions: the Noah’s Ark statue garden with huge, colorful animal statues by sculptor Niki de Saint Phalle made of mosaics, pebbles and mirrors; a children’s adventure playground and an artistic adventure for adults. For children: a zoo train (does not operate on Saturdays and holidays), a petting and feeding zoo, an ecological maze, and an enormous adventure playground. Tours for groups of school kids are available (by prior arrangement). The capacity of the zoo is 11,000 visitors and a visit with or without a guide lasts between 2 to 3 hours.

The ticket office closes one hour earlier. Group visits on Saturday are by prior arrangement.
How to get there:
In the Manahat (Malha) neighborhood, next to Jerusalem Mall and Teddy Stadium. By private vehicle – from the entrance to Jerusalem via the Menahem Begin Freeway (Route no. 4) to the Malha Mall and from there to the zoo.
Public transport – Bus nos. 26, 33 and 99 (the Tourist Route).
A trip to the Biblical Zoo is must for any visit to Jerusalem.
Special Attractions:
Feeding and special training every Saturday (in winter). Daytime and evening functions next to the lake. Institutions and organizations may hold fun days and study days at the zoo.

Zoomobile – a mobile zoo offering unique ecological workshops throughout Israel accompanied by a trainer and animals from the zoo. The workshops are intended for children, adults and the special needs population.

How to get there:
From Jerusalem and Tel Aviv: Take Route 1 to the Harel interchange (Mevaseret Zion), turn right and then immediately left over the bridge toward Maoz Zion (Castel). Drive another 4 km to the Sataf circle then turn right and continue along Route 395 to Kibbutz Tzuba.
From southern Israel: From the Nachshon junction, take Route 44 to the Hartuv junction. Then turn left and after the gas station, turn right onto Route 395. Continue another 13 km to Kibbutz Tzuba.

The University Botanical Garden – Jerusalem
A visit to the botanical garden in all season of the year is a multicolored adventure allowing visitors to escape the bustle of the city and experience nature. The garden features a tropical greenhouse containing spectacular flowers, orchids, insectivorous plant and others. Magnificent pools, ravines and waterfalls are found throughout the garden. The site offers guided tours, children’s activities, exhibitions and events.

How to get there: Hebrew University campus, Givat Ram, Jerusalem (Hertzog Street, beside the Nayot gas station). From the entrance to Jerusalem, travel via the International Convention Center, turn right at the Valley of the Cross (Emek Hamatzleva) and then right again towards the gas station.

The Time Elevator – an Exciting Show about Jerusalem
A thrilling and fascinating multisensory show through 3,000 years of Jerusalem history using cutting-edge presentation methods. The motion of the seats on six different axes in a unique cinema and the three gigantic screens lets you to feel as if you are descending into the depths of Jerusalem’s history and that you are part of the show. Haim Topol plays the role of Shalem, a 3,000 year old tour guide who leads you through the city’s various levels. At the end of the journey, the Time Elevator takes you back to Argon House after an aerial tour of present-day Jerusalem, which is inspired by the past, but looks towards the future.

Ein Yael – a Historical Agricultural Experience
The unique historical site of Ein Yael is located at the mouth of a sprouting spring in Nahal Rephaim. Throughout history agricultural farms were established around the abundant spring, one of which existed in the Roman era and stands out because of its spectacular mosaics and bathhouses. Currently, Ein Yael offers artistic workshops in which various traditional art and crafts techniques are recreated.
The workshops include: weaving, mosaics, fresco, basket weaving, ceramics, agriculture, musical instruments and jewelry from natural materials, grapes pressing in a wine press, and olive oil and perfume production.
